Place bearing washer (19S) on axle (1S) with dished side down so that curved face of spool (2S) will rotate properly on bearing washer (19S).
Apply a good quality waterproof grease to axle (1S) and inside of spool (2S). Place spool on base as shown.
Apply grease to inside of axle spring (10S) and assemble to axle so that hook portion of spring remains above the axle. (Turn spring clockwise to ease assembly.)
Apply grease to indside of brake spring (6S) and place hooked end of spring through small hole in handle (4S) so that spring is underneath handle ready for assembly to spool (2S).
Place unit on flat surface so that the hook of axle spring (10S) is pointing to your left. Place handle (4S) and brake spring (6S) over axle (1S) at an angle so that hook of axle spring (10S) can be inserted in slot of handle. (See illustration). Spring cannot be assembled unless hook is inserted at right angle 90° to slot. While holding handle with right hand, place forefinger on free end of brake spring (6S) and exert clockwise, downward pressure simultaneously on spring and handle until handle is flush with axle.
Assemble bolt (18SB) to cupped washer (17S) and assemble to axle (1S). Assemble other cupped washer (17S), lock washer (18SW), and nut (18SN).
Place release knob (7) and control arm (20S) on axle (1S) so that slot in control arm engages tree end of brake spring (6S).
Slide cover (3S) into position over release knob (7). Caution must be used so that slot in control arm (20S) remains engaged with free end of brake spring (6S).
Squeeze cover (3S) onto handle (4S). A rubber hammer may be used at he outer edge of cover to help tap in place.
IMPORTANT! Release knob (7) must operate freely. If it should bind, pry up cover slightly to obtain free play.
