Choosing a Location
Generally, the best location for your new Moormate® is to replace the existing cleats on your boat. This ensures that proper consideration was given to the deck strength in that area by the boat manufacturer. You will however, need to check two additional requirements.

IMPORTANT!
1. You will need a smooth flat surface at least 2" x 6-½"
2. Below this location you will need a minimum of 5" of unobstructed space.

When picking a location, be certain to check for both adequate space as well as concealed wiring, structural reinforcing, flotation material, etc.. Also note that the Moormate® has several drain holes in the cover which must be unobstructed to allow moisture to vent and air to circulate within the cover. If it is inappropriate to allow water to drain into this location, you should purchase the optional drain kit to redirect any collected water into your boat's bilge.
Location selection is extremely important. A hole cut in the wrong place is very expensive to repair. Take your time, and be absolutely certain you have enough room which will not interfere with any other features of your boat.
When your location is selected, use the enclosed paper template to mark or locate your cutout and its 4 anchoring holes. Sizes of the holes need to match the screws or bolts you are using on the template drawing.
If your deck or sub-surface is wood, 4 stainless steel wood screws should be sufficient to hold your Moormate® securely in position. Because of varieties in deck thickness, these screw have not been included.
If your deck is aluminum or fiberglass with no wood reinforcing, we suggest you use the two below the surface mounting plates and bolt your Moormate® into position.
